ok, I gotta ask: what's the douchebag trademark? A "D" branded on his cheek? just that look in his eyes?
And still, those who pursue those relationships cause us to wonder continually, "Why do jerks always get the nice girls?"
In this case, the d-bag trademark is persistently suspicious behavior - the guy isn't even trying to hide the very likely probability that he's got multiple women going on at the same time - he just doesn't want any of them to have the specifics on any of the others ... In previous situations, it's been other telltale signs of douchebaggery that were stubbornly unheeded or written off as "having hope" ... my brother's awesome, though, for calling things as they are and for listening to me.
Alas, I cannot tell you why jerks wind up with nice girls ... I'm wondering why nice girls can't spot the jerks earlier on ... and then why, when they do spot the jerks, the nice girls are willing to go along with and enable so much of the jerk behavior ...
