Man, that's sad

Six Flags is on the verge of going into Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. People, it is your civic responsibility to head to Elitch Gardens this summer and nauseate yourself while getting whiplash on their many creative torture devices ... er, rides. My most memorable: Screaming one long four-letter word from the tippy-top of the Tower of Terror all the way to the blessed tera firma bottom. Anna swears I was white at the end. I just know my extremities felt numb and tingly, and it took a good ten minutes to quit shaking and to walk normally.

Pittsburgh wants to ban couches from porches, citing fire risks. (I think they're afraid of the white-trash image associated with sofas on porches, although I think I'd be pretty excited about having a porch on which I could put a sofa.) One memory of Matt and Molly's Wedding Week was hauling their sofa to the porch while the newly shampooed carpet dried, sitting on it (Travis, Matt, me and Molly) and drinking beer. How very white trash of us. It was fabulous.

I tried my first-ever Guinness over the weekend ... and I'm now pretty sure I don't like stout. One the one hand, I'm glad I didn't wait 'til Ireland to find that out. On the other hand, I think the mere fact of being in Ireland might have made up for the disappointment of the stout. That's not stopping me from drinking the Guinness later tonight. I'm Irish. It's my obligation to my heritage.

But ... just to give some good with that dish of sad:

Wyoming is third on the list for happiness and well-being. Nenner, nenner, all you nay-sayers. Actually, the difference between the highest-ranked state (Utah) and the lowest (West Virginia) wasn't all that great (about 8 points), and no one ranked 70 or higher (out of a possible 100), but still ... to be third is no small thing, especially for such a big, beautiful, wonderful state. Viva Wyoming!

Haha. Wyoming also has the 5th highest suicide rate in the nation too! Hmmmm, such a juxtaposition! On that happy note.....
