Freak out Friday (or: I can't carry a coherent line of thought - here's what you get instead)
I'm accutely aware of every muscle in my back and shoulders today. I thought working out a bit more lightly today (read: The Firm, which used to push me to the point of passing out but is now merely an enjoyable sweat) would soften things up a bit, but no dice. I didn't know I had these muscles, but here they are, wailing unflaggingly at me. Oy. It's been a long time since I was tempted to take Tylenol PM in the middle of the day so I could sleep it off.
The freezer's working again, so yay. I get to have iced tea now, as opposed to simply refrigerated tea. The tradeoff is that I have to be OK with an occasional icy top layer in my milk, and I can't store some things on the top shelf of the fridge. I'll take the ice and the still-frozen veggies and ice cream, though. Fair trade, I think.
What you're actually reading right now is my stubborn, stubborn, STUBBORN tendency toward procrastination. I have two pages of a 48-page section left to lay out ... and nothin'. No oomph. Nada. I'm drained.
I'm tired of rodeo, and it hasn't even started yet. I've stared at cowboys (no complaining about that, actually), steers, broncs, bull butts, little kids pickin' their noses (mutton busters) and sixty years of Jubilee Days queens up the whazoo ... I hate that I can be so tired of such a big (usually fun) event a week before it's even started.
I'm hoping this wears off and I get excited for Jubilee Days again in time to enjoy some street dances, Wrangler-clad cowboys and the overall atmosphere of fun that permeates Laramie during that week.
I've got the headphones cranked up, hoping Red or Linkin Park or Radiohead can offer some sort of assistance. Unfortunately, as much as I'm enjoying the ability to have my headphones up this loud in the newsroom, I'm not getting much more than musical enjoyment out of the experience, which I could get just as easily at home ... yet here I sit.
Two stinkin' pages.
Okay. Here I go. See you on the other side of this thing.
