how (bad) rumors get started

Matt: "How's Tom?"

Sarah: "Who's Tom?"

Matt: "Tom."

Sarah: "Tom?"

Matt: "Tom - the guy in Denver."

Sarah: "That's Tim."

Matt: "I thought Tim was Creepy Cult Guy."

Sarah: "That's Jim."

Matt: "I can't keep the men straight anymore." (this makes me sound, um ... well ... not good)

Sarah: "Technically, there are only two men in this conversation. Tom never existed."

Matt: "Fine. How's Tim?"

Sarah: "We haven't been dating for a while now. You need to call more often."

My sister and I are fans of instant messenger.

Moving far far away from the people you love is easier than ever these days because as long as both of you care enough to pick up the phone or open a new IM window, you're never really as far away as the geography suggests.

several things prevent me from IM (no internet at home and no IMing allowed at work), and believe it or not, my brother and I actually talk quite a bit ... this is part selective amnesia, part ongoing drama, entirely long story.

ok, about five minutes, maybe less, have passed since you posted a reply to that comment, in addition to the post about daffodils.

I have to ask: By what means are you posting to this blog?

I said "no IMing allowed at work." No gaming, either. Almost anything else is allowed, as long as the job gets done.

Oh, that's right. You work the swing shift. You're at work now.

I was about to ask if they ever let you leave the building.
