Auxiliary to host children's party

I have to put a plug in for this annual event -- a Christmas party for the children of active-duty servicemen and women from the Gillette/Campbell County area, since my mom's the one in charge of organizing it. The kids get an afternoon of treats and meeting Santa, their parents get a bit of a break for the afternoon and the chance to meet up with fellow military families, and then the families get a gift card to help cover the cost of buying the kids' gifts for the holidays. It's one of the best ways the Auxiliary gets to reach out to military families each year. Read the News-Record's article here.

The auxiliary is also accepting donations to help cover the cost of the party. You can write to Terry Case (my mom) at gcase@bresnan.net. If you live in the Gillette area, she's also supposed to be promoting this and the tree project -- in which members of the community can "adopt" a veteran from the Buffalo veterans' home to buy their Christmas presents -- on Steve Norris' morning show on KIML AM 1270 (I know how much some of you love Steve Norris ...). I'm just not sure which day yet ...

If you want to adopt one of the veterans from the Buffalo home, the tree will be at the Perkins restaurant in Gillette. There is a chance that some names may also be available at Campco Federal Credit Union ...
