Music Musing

I've written about music before, but it's been a while, and I'm listening to "Worlds Apart" right now, which, more than 10 years after it first came out on Jars of Clay's first album, is still my favorite song. Ever. In the world. It's not upbeat, but it is beautiful. It's one of those songs that when I feel like I can't pray, I can at least sing along with this song -- or at least listen along with it -- and the song becomes my prayer. All the versions of the song leave me sitting there, contemplating the lyrics and what they mean and whether I really mean them when I sing along ... the song is just a beautiful experience.

This song took Jars of Clay more than six months to write. I have a version of the song that has alternative lyrics.
